Site Plan

Essential for SEO and good navigation

Your site plan should consist of a simple bullet point list outlining the organization of the main and subpages.

The way you organize your content of your site will depend on the number of pages and their relationship with one another.

It is used to:

  1. Create your menus and site map.
  2. Organize your text and images into folders to make sure we put them in the right place.
  3. Create a logical path for search engine spiders crawling your site.
  4. Help us give you the fairest and most accurate quotation for building your site.

SEO or Search Engine Optimisation

Every page on your site will need content which is often simply a text file and a few images.  It will also need at least one key word or phrase to help visitors find you online and a short description or ‘excerpt’ that Google and other search engines return in their search results.

This keyword or phrase should ideally:

  1. Be the first word or phrase in your Page Title.
  2. Be included in at least one Heading and one Hyperlink.
  3. Be the word or phrase Used Most Often in your page content.
  4. Appear in the alt tag of at least one image used to illustrated your content.
  5. Form part of the name of images used on that page.

Navigation & Search

Many sites will have secondary menus in the footer and/or header.  In addition, large sites may have a permanently visible submenu underneath the main menu.  Your Site Plan will form the basis of your Main Menu.  For additional menus please create lists named Shop, Footer, Category/Parent.

Forms

Most web sites include at least a Contact Us form.  For each form on your site you will need the names of the information fields used and their type; an email address or addresses that the responses are to go to; what the person using the form should see after the form has been submitted; whether you want them to receive an email copy of their enquiry and, if so, what that should contain.

Social Media

You will need to supply the URLs of any social media accounts you would like your site to link to.

Terms and Conditions

Most web sites include a T&C page.  You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of any legal documents used on your site.

Accreditations and Qualifications

It is your responsibility to provide the logos for any accreditations or qualifications you may want to use on your web site.  If you are listed on the website of a governing body, we recommend linking the logo of that body to the page on which you are listed as a member.  Please supply the URL of any pages which need to be linked in this way.
